A’BECKETS AVENUE

Extension and renovation

The extension and renovation of this charming thatched cottage provided the perfect opportunity to link garden to house. Not only were we involved with the garden design itself, but our client brought us on early enough that we could influence the shape and direction of the extension to ensure it tied in perfectly with their outdoor space.

Rustic tumbled limestone paving leads from inside out, through large bifold doors across a level threshold and an oak pergola overhead, to create an area ideal for relaxing with family and friends. As the lawn stretches across the garden your eye is drawn to the elegant detailing of a winding clay paver path, landing on a raised circular pond nestled in the centre of the garden.

Fortunately our green-fingered client was keen to fill the generous borders, so we developed a planting scheme extending up to 500 plant varieties, grown and brought on in their Alitex greenhouse and cold frame. A garden studio with silvered cedar shingle roofing and a matching shed allow for additional functional space whilst keeping in style with the rest of the garden, and raised borders tuck neatly into the corner ready for growing fruit and veg.

A lighting scheme with added infrared heating was also agreed with our clients so that they could enjoy the garden well into the evening throughout the year.
